Chinese Hospital is honored to announce its inclusion in Newsweek and Statista Inc.’s prestigious “Best-in-State Hospitals” list for 2025, achieving the #3 ranking in San Francisco and #30 among California’s 336(1) hospitals. This is the second consecutive year that Chinese Hospital has received this national recognition, highlighting its commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered care despite the complex challenges facing today’s healthcare industry.
The healthcare sector has faced substantial obstacles in recent years, including physicians and staffing shortages, rising operational costs, and the ongoing demands of public health crises. Through these pressures, Chinese Hospital has maintained its focus on patient care, meeting each challenge with innovation, adaptability, and an unwavering commitment to quality.
“Being recognized in Newsweek’s Best-in-State Hospitals list for a second consecutive year reflects our dedication to quality care and the community we serve,” said Dr. Jian Zhang, CEO of Chinese Hospital. “Our ability to adapt and uphold high standards in a challenging healthcare environment is a testament to the extraordinary efforts of our physicians, nurses, and staff, who remain committed to delivering excellence to our patients.”
Dr. Kin F. Yee, Chairman of the Chinese Hospital Board of Trustees, added, “This recognition is a proud moment for Chinese Hospital and a testament to our unwavering commitment to compassionate, high-quality care. Our mission to serve the community has been at the core of our work for over 125 years, and we will continue to build on this legacy by advancing healthcare access and quality for all.”
Chinese Hospital’s success is driven by strategic partnerships, including collaborations with the Department of Public Health and UCSF Health. These partnerships have enabled the creation of San Francisco’s only hospital-based Subacute Care Unit and expanded access to specialized care, ensuring patients receive world-class treatment close to home. These efforts reinforce Chinese Hospital’s mission to deliver comprehensive, high-quality healthcare to the community.
The “Best-in-State Hospitals” rankings use a rigorous methodology based on four key metrics:
- Hospital Quality Metrics from trusted sources, including CMS metrics and AHA Annual Survey.
- Nationwide Online Survey of healthcare professionals who recommended top hospitals.
- Patient Experience insights from hospital surveys.
- PROMs Implementation Survey evaluating hospitals’ Patient-Reported Outcome Measures.
In addition to its Newsweek recognition for 2024 and 2025, Chinese Hospital has received the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines® – Stroke Gold Award and the designation as a Center of Excellence by GO2 for Lung Cancer. Each of these honors demonstrates Chinese Hospital’s commitment to clinical excellence and positive patient outcomes.
