Chinese Hospital and CCHP, in partnership with Supervisor Chyanne Chen, proudly hosted the D11 Community Health Fair to promote health awareness and wellness among residents of the Excelsior District. The event brought together local organizations and community members for a day focused on preventive care, education, and community connection.
The fair featured free health screenings, wellness resources, and educational booths. Attendees received valuable information on chronic disease prevention, healthy living, vaccinations, and sexual health resources.
District 11, which includes the Excelsior District, is recognized for its cultural diversity and strong community ties. It is home to many working-class families and seniors who may face challenges in accessing healthcare. While the district is vibrant and close-knit, many residents continue to experience health disparities due to limited access to affordable care as well as language and transportation barriers.
“At Chinese Hospital, our mission has always been to provide linguistically and culturally competent care to all,” said Michael Chung, President and CFO of Chinese Hospital. “That’s why we opened a clinic in the Excelsior District many years ago—to ensure that local residents have access to high-quality care within their own community. Our quarterly community health fairs reflect our continued commitment to meeting people where they are, bringing essential health services and education directly into the neighborhood to help close gaps in access and equity.”
“CCHP is proud to serve the community by offering affordable, high-quality health coverage designed to meet the diverse needs of San Francisco residents,” said Larry Loo, CEO of CCHP. “Through our comprehensive plans and trusted provider network, we help members access preventive care, manage chronic conditions, and stay healthy. Events like this health fair allow us to connect directly with the community and reinforce our mission of improving health through care, coverage, and compassion.”
Supervisor Chyanne Chen expressed appreciation for the collaborative effort, emphasizing the importance of accessible healthcare services for residents of the Excelsior District and beyond.
“I am so appreciative to Chinese Hospital and all the community partners for their work on the health fair to bring accessible and culturally appropriate services to our community. We look forward to having this annual event,” said Supervisor Chyanne Chen.
The fair also featured participation from UCSF, the San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH), SF Hep B Free, and several other community organizations that provided additional wellness resources, community programs, and social service information.
The event showcased the power of collaboration between healthcare providers, government agencies, and local organizations in advancing public health and improving the quality of life for San Francisco residents.
