Chinese Hospital is delighted to announce a generous donation from the International Chinese Women’s Health Association. The International Chinese Women’s Health Association has acknowledged Chinese Hospital’s dedication to advancing breast cancer awareness within the community through early detection screenings and free health education programs, which has inspired their decision to offer support. This generous donation, a result of their recent pink ribbon fundraising event, has raised $20,000 in support of our breast cancer prevention programs. This donation also symbolizes our shared dedication to improving women’s health in our community.
Since 1994, Chinese Hospital has been striving in the fight against breast cancer. Over the years, we’ve secured grants and resources to provide free educational classes on breast health and breast self-examinations, as well as offer free mammograms for low-income women. We’ve also partnered with the state’s “Every Woman Counts” program to provide free breast cancer screening and diagnostic services to underserved women.
Breast cancer remains a significant global challenge. In 2020, there were 2.3 million new cases worldwide, leading to 685,000 deaths. The United States reported over 1.6 million new cancer cases. In 2023, nearly 300,000 U.S. women are projected to receive a breast cancer diagnosis, reaffirming its status as the most common cancer among American women. Early detection is key to successful treatment, improving survival rates.
While Chinese Hospital has made significant strides, there is much work ahead. With the International Chinese Women’s Health Association’s generous support, we will continue raising awareness, providing healthcare services, and offering vital support.
