Position Summary
Provides all aspects of quality imaging and patient care. In conjunction with the Radiology Department Manager, responsible for the day-to-day operations and duties in compliance with the radiology department and legal requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Complies with all essential duties and responsibilities of the radiology or nuclear medicine technologist.
- Incorporate the 5 P’s of Accountability (Presentism, Positive Attitude, Productivity, Pride and Patient Care) into leadership responsibilities
- Lead the radiology department in conjunction with the radiology department manager/director
- Ability to direct all radiology department staff including techs and other dept. support staff
- Monitor productivity, assign tasks as appropriate and act as a resource for team members and/or providers in hospital and clinic locations
- Work to maintain team member compliance of all radiology department procedures
- Monitor performance/productivity of the radiology tech assistants, aides and/or patient transporters
- Communicate directly with the clinical team and providers
- Respond immediately to urgent needs as required.
- Responsible for assisting with smooth patient flow
- Ensure electronic delivery of images to PACS
- Ensure documentation of exam details in EHR at the time of visit
- Ensure proper billing is documented for exam
- Assist with importing and exporting images to and from other facilities and prepare images for Health Information requests
- Adhere to Chinese Hospital and Radiology Department policies
- Act as a resource to clinical team for imaging technical and/or functional direction and support to employees and medical staff
- Assist management in prioritizing and monitoring daily imaging needs to ensure smooth and efficient workflow
- Monitor radiology department equipment for proper operation; report any technical difficulties to field service and management
- Provides input with employee hiring
- Assist with drafting of the schedule
- Monitor radiology department equipment for proper operation; report any technical difficulties to field service and management
- Protect patients, yourself and staff from radiation exposure by practicing sound procedures, which meet or exceed recommended industry standards.
- Ensure that all equipment is in good working condition and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Report immediately any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns to department manager
- Maintain and re-stock radiology department supplies.
- Monitor daily check of crash cart and emergency trays in Radiology, MRI and Nuc Med exam rooms.
- Ensure monthly crash cart supply are checked and replaced any expiring crash cart supplies
- Demonstrates good working relationships at all levels.
- Plans and utilizes work time efficiently.
- Request, retrieve and track files to and from other departments or centers.
- Work closely with the Physician, PA, or NP to receive guidance and instruction for treating patients.
- Makes suggestions to improve work methods.
- Coordinate and/or assist with training of new employees.
- Work assignments may include weekday & weekend (AM) dayshift, (PM) nightshift, (graveyard) evening shift or on call duty per hospital needs.
- Help in improving workflows and reviewing current policies
- Help with holding daily staff huddles in absence of departmental manager
- Help with quality assurance program in Radiology department.
Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:
- When assisting in clinic, refer to receptionist, imagining tech job descriptions for a list of duties and responsibilities, notify management of questions or concerns
- Assist with projects as directed by the radiology department manager
- Attend department and team meetings as required
- Attend Chinese Hospital and other continuing education classes as required
- RIS and PACS administrator, super user and trainer
- Responsible for releasing and/or updating exams & pricing in RIS in conjunction with department manager
- Participates in quality/process improvement activities
- Assists with development of policies and procedures
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements, including TJC and CMS
- Assists with preparing radiology department for regulatory requirements.
- All other duties assigned
Leadership and Operational Support:
- Participate in departmental process improvement initiatives to enhance workflow efficiency, patient satisfaction, and quality of care.
- Collaborate with department leadership to assist in day-to-day operational activities, including equipment upkeep, patient throughput, and compliance tracking.
- Support strategic planning efforts by providing input on workflow design, space utilization, and resource allocations.
- Act as a liaison between frontline staff and management to ensure communication of goals, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
- Attend operational and interdepartmental meetings as requested by the Radiology Manager/director or hospital leadership.
- Assist in developing and reviewing standard operating procedures, policies, and department goals.
- Serve as a subject matter resource in troubleshooting technical and administrative issues that arise during daily operations.
Performance Requirements:
- General knowledge of Radiology, CT, MRI, Nuc Med or RDMS and other imaging modalities and equipment
- Knowledge of anatomy and patient positioning for exams
- Knowledge of safety hazards common to radiology, includes but not limited to equipment, body mechanics, and patient movement
- Ability to grasp new tasks in a timely manner
- Ability to react quickly in emergent situations
- Ability to communicate effectively, both written andverbally
- Work efficiently with high volume
- Maintain all required competencies
Qualifications
- Experience: At least 3 years’ experience in Radiology departmental in acute setting preferred
- Certificate/License:
• ARRT Registered-Active (or eligible) RT (R), (N), (CT) or(MR) or MM or RMDS
• California State Licensure-Active (CRT, CNMT or RDMS
• Current CPR Certification (BLS)

Computer Skills: Basic computer skills are required including skills in Outlook, MS Word, Power Point and Excel.
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, staff is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk and/or listen. He/she uses his/her hands to do computer work, write reports, do equipment set-up/cleaning/storage, clerical support, etc. He/she will be using the phone frequently. Good vision is needed to be able to read schedules, enter accurate data, etc. He/she must have good general health and demonstrate emotional stability so as to carry out the above-enumerated duties.

- Standing, walking and moving 50% of the day

Base Pay Scale
Starting at $71.91 – $87.58 per hour. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
