Position Summary
The occupational therapist serves as part of a team to provide care and other related services. As a representative of Chinese Hospital, the occupational therapist demonstrates high standards of clinical care, customer service, professionalism, communication, and compassion. In addition, s/he may perform administrative duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Performs occupational therapy assessments, diagnostic tests, skilled treatments, and ongoing evaluation of patients.
Completes assessments in a timely manner.
Develops a treatment program and establishes goals for improved function.
Provides assessment findings and goals to assist in developing the client care plan and obtains specific physician orders as needed.
Documents all findings, plans, interventions, and client progress (outcomes) on designated forms and submits per Agency guidelines.
Communicates plans and changes to the physician and to nursing Case Manager and other Agency staff through the care plan, written progress notes, and participation in care conferences.
Guides and instructs the client in prescribing therapeutic self-care and creative activities that are directed toward improving independence and physical and cognitive functioning.
Advises, consults, and teaches appropriate treatment procedures and supportive activities to clients, family members, and other Agency staff.
Designs and/or orders appropriate adaptive/assistive devices and/or splints to promote optimal level of functioning.
Instructs clients and their families in the client specific program.
Performs job in compliance with policies and procedures and professional and community standards. Provides services in accordance with applicable state, federal, and Joint Commission standards.
Attends meetings and required educational programs.
Accepts responsibility for personal and professional development and identifies learning/developmental needs to supervisor.
Participates in care coordination as needed.
Performs other related duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary.
Qualifications
Required
- Ability to effectively present information, both verbal and written.
- Ability to multi-task with a high level of efficiency and attention to detail.
- Ability to take initiative, adapt to changing priorities, and work independently.
- Strong communication skills.
- Strong time management and prioritization skills.
- Computer proficiency.
- Has a current license as an Occupational Therapist in the State of California.
- Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy curriculum.
Preferred
- Knowledge of community resources and cultural needs.
- Bilingual in English and Chinese (Cantonese or Mandarin; Toishan a plus).
Physical Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, staff is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and/or listen. He/she uses his/her hands to do computer work, write reports, do equipment set-up/cleaning/storage, clerical support, etc. He/she will be using the phone frequently. Good vision is needed to be able to read schedules, enter accurate data, etc. He/she must have good general health and demonstrate emotional stability so as to carry out the above-enumerated duties.
- Able to lift up to 30 pounds.
- Stand, walk, and move 50% of the day.
- Use proper body mechanics when handling equipment.

Complies with Chinese Hospital Compliance Handbook including Code of Ethics and all statutes, regulations, guidelines applicable to federal and state programs. Responsibilities include, following the guidelines and reporting suspected violations of any statute, regulations, agreements or guidelines applicable to all healthcare programs.

Base Pay Scale
Starting at $40.00 – $70.00 per hour. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
