Position Summary

Under the general direction of the Accounting Manager, the accountant is primarily concerned with the general accounting functions. Employs generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and the financial responsibilities to perform general accounting functions, financial analysis, budget preparation and monitoring.  Responsibilities to include the preparation of supporting schedules according to monthly close schedule, and preparation of monthly financial statements and reports for management. Assistance with preparing operating and capital budgets, variance reporting, audit schedules, third-party cost reporting schedules and other financial analyses as needed. Perform account analyses, account reconciliations, fixed assets accounting, and inter-company transactions on a routine basis. Responsible for providing analysis and assistance to maintain the accounting system and all finance related work for the hospital. Must project a professional image within the department and to the public at all times. Must have excellent interpersonal skills and cooperate with other department(s) within the hospital.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supports the implementation of established accounting policies and procedures.
  • Prepares journal entries and supporting schedules for the month-end close.
  • Analyzes variances on the financial statements.
  • Generates Fixed Assets processing.
  • Prepares monthly reconciliation of main bank accounts.
  • Reconciles and analyzes general ledger accounts / activities.
  • Participates in preparing annual budget.
  • Generates various monthly billings
  • Utilizes various databases, prepares analysis for management.
  • Participates in quarterly and annual surveys and filings.
  • Maintains the Outside Medical Services file to keep track of patient census and claims payment made.
  • Participates in preparing annual Cost Report schedules.
  • Assists in the preparation of annual audit schedules for independent auditors.
  • Assists with other reports and projects as assigned.
  • Accepts and performs all essential job functions and other related duties and responsibilities as required.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting is preferred
  • 3+ years of recent accounting experience (healthcare experience preferred)
  • Knowledge of GAAP accounting and auditing principles, accounting / budgeting system applications, and inter-company transactions; 10-key by touch
  • Strong account reconciliation, EXCEL, and analytical skills required
  • Be able to work independently, be dependable, detailed oriented, and able to work flexible hours to meet deadlines
  • Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office) (EMR knowledge a plus)
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively present information, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to take initiative, adapt to changing priorities, and work independently
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills
  • Ability to multi-task with a high level of efficiency and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, staff is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk and/or listen. He/she uses his/her hands to do computer work, write reports, do equipment set-up/cleaning/storage, clerical support, etc. He/she will be using the phone frequently. Good vision is needed to be able to read schedules, enter accurate data, etc. He/she must have good general health and demonstrate emotional stability so as to carry out the above-enumerated duties.

  • Able to lift up to 30 pounds
  • Use proper body mechanics when handling equipment
  • Standing, walking and moving 50% of the day

Compliance Requirements

Complies with Chinese Hospital Compliance Handbook including Code of Ethics and all statutes, regulations, guidelines applicable to federal and state programs. Responsibilities include, following the guidelines and reporting suspected violations of any statute, regulations, agreements or guidelines applicable to all healthcare programs.

Base Pay Scale: Starting at $73,000 – $110,000 per year
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
