About this role
Perform MRI duties in compliance with Radiology department and legal requirements. Help patients feel comfortable during the entire process. Perform selected nursing, lab, administrative, and clerical duties that assist in the delivery of primary health care and patient care management under the direction of a Physician, PA, or NP. These duties are delegated in relation to the individual’s degree of training, in accordance with the objectives and policies of the organization and respective state laws governing such action and activities. In this role the MRI Technologist will operate MRI scanner to produce images of the patient’s body for diagnostic purposes. Provides leadership and technical support to MRI services, assuring that services are provided within professional standards and with excellent customer service. Remains self-motivated to increase level of understanding and knowledge of the field, disease, and new procedures as they evolve. Responsible for patient safety and the performance of high quality MRI studies. Insures effective communication with customers, including Radiologists as necessary. In some instances, trains new technologists and/or other radiology support staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs routine and advanced MRI procedures on designated portions of the body for use by physicians in the diagnosing and treating of patient illness and/or injury with minimal amount of supervision or repeats
- Screens patient before exam for any precautions or contraindications pertaining to the examination including cardiac pacemaker, aneurysm clips, stapedectomy, and eye surgery.
- Prepares patients for MRI procedures that will be performed, explaining the procedure and positioning patients so that the parts of the body can be appropriately scanned.
- Explain examination procedures to patients while considering their physical and emotional needs.
- Adjusts scan parameters correctly and as needed
- Arranges immobilization and support devices to obtain the proper position of the patient for imaging.
- Prepares room, equipment, medicine, and materials as needed for patient care and exams. Includes contrast media and other medications as needed.
- Administer IV contrast when applicable for MRI exams.
- Maintains a positive attitude and working relationships with radiologists, referring offices and other associates and peers
- Converses with doctors, nurses, patients, and family members as required
- Follows physicians’ orders precisely and conforms to safety regulations to protect themselves, patients, and coworkers
- Complete assigned tasks accurately while following established procedures and policies.
- Perform duties in times of crisis and during emergency and overtime situations.
- Maintains accurate patient records within Radiology Information System (RIS)
- Maintains an orderly and clean work area promoting good safety habits for patients and co-workers
- Maintains ACR toolkit and accreditation requirements
- Other duties may be assigned
- ARRT registered technologist, current and in good standing
- ARRT RT (R) and Advanced (MR) certification
- A current (CRT) certificate in Radiologic Technology for the state of California.
- Graduate of an American Medical Association (AMA) or American College of Radiology (ACR) approved school of diagnostic imaging
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) BCLS certification
- Current Venipuncture Certification.
- Training and experience sufficient to competently perform MR and/or radiographic procedures independently
- Minimum 1 year MRI experience (preferred)
- Bilingual Language (Cantonese or Mandarin or Both)
*Work assignments may include Weekday & Weekend (AM) Dayshift, (PM) Nightshift, (Graveyard) Evening Shift or On-Call Duty per hospital needs.
*Standby and On-Call Duty might be required on a rotational basis.
B) Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of community resources and cultural needs.
- Two years of college
While performing the duties of this job, staff is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk and/or listen. He/she uses his/her hands to do computer work, write reports, do equipment set-up/cleaning/storage, clerical support, etc. He/she will be using the phone frequently. Good vision is needed to be able to read schedules, enter accurate data, etc. He/she must have good general health and demonstrate emotional stability so as to carry out the above-enumerated duties.

- Use proper body mechanics when handling equipment
- Standing, walking and moving 50% of the day
Complies with Chinese Hospital Compliance Handbook including Code of Ethics and all statutes, regulations, guidelines applicable to federal and state programs. Responsibilities include, following the guidelines and reporting suspected violations of any statute, regulations, agreements or guidelines applicable to all healthcare programs.
Base Pay Scale: Starting at $67.13 – $77.14 per hour
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
