Chinese Hospital, together with key community partners, hosted the Excelsior Community Health Fair this past Saturday, offering a range of free health services to residents of the Excelsior neighborhood. The event welcomed hundreds of community members who took part in health screenings, consultations, and educational sessions, making a meaningful contribution to public health and awareness in the area.

Organized in partnership with CCHP, Balance by CCHP, Community Youth Center of San Francisco (CYC) and Ocean Avenue Presbyterian Church, the health fair was designed to address the unique needs of the diverse Excelsior community, offering convenient access to critical healthcare services. Attendees were able to receive COVID-19 and flu vaccinations, blood pressure checks, glucose testing, hepatitis B testing, and more. The event also provided educational resources focused on mental health, chronic illness prevention, and preventive care, emphasizing the importance of regular screenings and healthy lifestyle choices.

This collaboration with local organizations highlights Chinese Hospital’s commitment to health equity and to addressing the unique healthcare challenges of San Francisco’s diverse populations. By bringing essential resources and services directly to residents, the Excelsior Community Health Fair reinforces Chinese Hospital’s mission of empowering individuals to take charge of their health and well-being.

“We are incredibly encouraged by the strong turnout at this year’s Excelsior Community Health Fair,” said Dr. Jian Zhang, CEO of Chinese Hospital. “Health fairs like these are rare in the Excelsior neighborhood, and it’s a privilege to bring vital health resources directly to residents who might otherwise have limited access. This event reflects our commitment to building a healthier, more informed community by ensuring everyone, regardless of race, religion, gender, or socioeconomic status, has the support they need to lead healthier lives.”

Dr. Zhang would also like to remind the community that this is the time to make sure people get health insurance coverage if they don’t already have it. CCHP and Balance by CCHP are the community’s health plans and there are financial help people can get if they qualify.
Chinese Hospital extends its sincere gratitude to the numerous partners whose dedication and collaboration made the Excelsior Community Health Fair a success. This year’s event was supported by UCSF Health, San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH), Community Living Campaign, Community Well, Mission Neighborhood Health Center, Latino Task Force, On Lok, San Francisco Fire Department (SFFD), San Francisco Public Library, Self-Help for the Elderly, SF Hep B Free, and the Mission YMCA. Each partner’s contribution was invaluable in bringing comprehensive health services to the community.

This event is one of several health fairs hosted throughout the year as part of Chinese Hospital’s ongoing commitment to fostering a healthier community and improving health outcomes across San Francisco.
