Chinese Hospital & Clinics is pleased to welcome Dr. Xiao-Ping Cheng, MD, to our team as a Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation physician with extensive expertise in spine care and the treatment of complex musculoskeletal and joint conditions. His addition further strengthens Chinese Hospital & Clinics’ commitment to expanding access to high-quality, patient-centered rehabilitative care for the community.
Dr. Cheng earned his medical degree from Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, completed specialty training at Columbia University and Temple University, and is board certified by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.
Before joining Chinese Hospital & Clinics, Dr. Cheng served for more than 20 years as Chief of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at The Permanente Medical Group in San Francisco. He provides comprehensive evaluations and nonsurgical care for a wide range of spine-related, musculoskeletal, and joint conditions. His clinical expertise includes NCS/EMG diagnostic studies, and he has extensive experience leading multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
Dr. Cheng treats patients with chronic back and neck pain, joint pain, nerve-related conditions, sports injuries, and other complex musculoskeletal concerns. He is also expanding services to include fluoroscopic-guided interventional pain procedures for lumbar spine and joint conditions, improving timely access to comprehensive pain management care.
Known for his patient-centered approach, Dr. Cheng emphasizes accurate diagnosis, functional recovery, and long-term symptom relief. He is fluent in English and Mandarin, allowing him to better serve our diverse patient community.
