Thank you for your support!

Gift Pledges

Pledges allow donors to make ongoing gifts over a period of months or years or by a number of installments. Payment schedules are flexible. For your convenience, monthly donations can be made online on our secure page. If you would like to be billed at regular intervals, please contact our Office of Fund Development at 1-415-677-2470.

Employer Matching Gifts

Many employers sponsor matching gift programs and will match any charitable contributions made by their employees. To find out if your company has a matching gift policy, please consult your Human Resources Department.

If your company is eligible, request a matching gift form from your employer, and send it completed and signed with your gift. Chinese Hospital will do the rest. The impact of your gift may be doubled or possibly tripled! Some companies match gifts made by their retirees and/or employees’ spouse.

Workplace Giving

Workplace giving is an efficient way of contributing to Chinese Hospital. It costs less than bulk mail solicitations or even sending renewal letters to regular contributors.

United Way

You can make a contribution to Chinese Hospital through the United Way Program at your workplace by putting the name and address of Chinese Hospital on the contribution form in the space provided.

Gift Planning

Chinese Hospital welcomes a variety of gifts to support its mission. A carefully planned gift gives you the opportunity to make an impact now or in the future.

Gifts can be made in the form of assets rather than income to insure long-term impact. Whether through a gift of stock, bequest from your Will, life insurance policy, or a trust, a planned gift is arranged by you legally during your lifetime. These planned gifts take many forms and can reduce income and estate taxes.

Types of Planned Gifts

Bequest: You can make a charitable bequest by providing a dollar amount, specific property, a percentage of your estate, or what is left (remainder). If you are subject to estate taxes, a charitable deduction is allowed against those taxes.

Example Language:
I/We wish to give $_______ or ________% or _________ (specific property) or the remainder of my/our estate to be directed to Chinese Hospital upon disbursement of my/our Will.

Retirement Accounts and Pension Plans: Many donors who are 70.5 or older contribute to Chinese Hospital with a “Qualified Charitable Distribution” from their retirement accounts. This type of gift can be a great way to minimize income taxes during your lifetime. Retirement account funds may also be transferred to Chinese Hospital at death by your proper beneficiary designation. If left to a child or other heir, these funds may be subject to double or triple taxation that may eliminate 70-80% of their benefit. However, Chinese Hospital will receive 100% of the funds at no tax cost.

Life Insurance: Life insurance is another way to make a substantial future gift to the Chinese Hospital. Chinese Hospital is named as the owner and beneficiary to receive the proceeds of an existing life or new insurance policy. You will receive a tax deduction for approximately the cash surrender value.

An alternative is for the you to simply add the Chinese Hospital as a beneficiary to a policy. You will retain the incidents of ownership over the policy including the right to change the beneficiaries. However, you will not receive an income tax deduction.

Real Estate: Want to make a gift to Chinese Hospital without touching your bank account? Consider giving real estate, such as a personal residence, vacation home, farm, commercial property or undeveloped land. Such a generous gift helps us continue our work for years to come. And a gift of real estate also helps you. When you give Chinese Hospital appreciated property you have held longer than one year, you qualify for a federal income tax charitable deduction, and you may minimize or eliminate capital gains tax. And you no longer have to deal with that property’s maintenance costs, property taxes or insurance.

Another benefit: You don’t have to hassle with selling real estate. You can deed the property directly to Chinese Hospital or ask your attorney to add a few sentences in your will or trust agreement. Reach out to our Fund Development department at 1-415-677-2470 for more information on how to establish a trust with Chinese Hospital as a beneficiary.
